The Department of Basic Education Minister, Mrs. Angie Motshekga will today officially announce the outcome of 2023 Matric Examinations on 18th January 2024. The Matric Results 2023 will be released to candidates on 19th January 2024 at 6:00 AM.

Candidates are urged to get their statements of results from their school/centre where they wrote the exams.
Candidates’ Matric results will also be available on www.education.gov.za/ websites from 6:00 AM time on 19 January 2024.

The overall pass for 2023 Matric Results is 82.9% which is an increase of 2.8 percent of last year (2022) from 80.1%.

- Free State Province: 2024 Matric Results pass rate is 89.03% which is an increase of 0.8% last year
- KwaZulu Natal Province: 2024 Matric Results pass rate is 86.36% which is an increase of 3.4% last year

Are you are not satisfied with the 2024 Matric Exam Outcome?
A candidate may apply at the prescribed fee for the re-mark/re-check of his/her examination scripts, that R120.00 and R29.00 for Re-mark and Re-check respectively
Registration can be done at either the school or district office in the province or online at www.eservices.gov.za (all instructions appear on the reverse side of the Statement of Results).
Closing date for applications: 2 February 2024 for both manual applications and online applications.
Viewing of scripts may only be done after a re-mark or re-check of results. The closing date for applications is 7 days after release of re-mark or re-check results and the fee for viewing is R234.00
Results of remarking will be released from 15 March 2024 and will be available at the school/exam centre where the candidate sat for their 2023 examinations.
Is there Supplementary Exam to Improve Matric Results 2024?
No! Now days the supplementary Matric Exam are has been phased out and is therefore no longer available.
A new examination is available during May/June where candidates can improve their matric results or complete outstanding results.
The closing date for application for second chance May/June Matric Rewrite Exam 2024 is 8 February 2024.
